Launching an Online Presence Campaign for your Business
56Launching an Online Presence Campaign for your Business?
It is a daunting time when you first start thinking about online presence for your company. That is why I recommend you start slowly and cheaply.
There are so many companies out there who are promising the most amazing online presence but it is also at an amazing cost…. So here are a few tips to do your self and best of all for free!!
Step one is to ensure your website is kept up to date and working (it can be a basic one page website just ensure it looks professional, has current contact information, product/service information and is branded with your company name or logo).
Step two is to list your website on as many free directories as possible and believe me there are hundreds, you can find them by using a search engine and type in key words such as free business directory, free directory, online directory etc. All the better if you place a website link with them as this is searched higher by the robots and spiders (the tool used when looking and selecting websites for search engine keywords). Some may ask for you to place a link back on your website, I would highly recommend this as it is called link building and the more two way links you share the better for your website ranking with search engines.
Step three is to register with your search engine and set up an analytical report, this way you can look at your visitors, page impressions, and geographical visits, bounce rate etc. You also need to set yourself some goals and monitor the web performance to sales performance and two of the most important tasks to complete is looking at your keyword hits and monitoring your visiting source, as this will show you what listings are successful and what are your top performing keywords.
Step four will be to gather data from your analytical reports and use this to determine if you should pay to advertise more on certain sites, and if you should look at considering using AdWords etc.
You are now on your way to becoming an organisation with a good online presence but I wouldn’t suggest you stop there why not read some articles and blogs about meta tags, key word optimisation, robot friendly site, blogging, link building and page ranking to ensure you become that search engine optimisation wizard. Good luck and enjoy, and remember we’re all on a learning curve.

Good step-by-step advice! I think for a lot of people it is tempting just to fork out for the expense as it is so hard to know where to start.
Rated up, useful and bookmarked. I'll be back!
